The law legalizing in certain conditions the occupation by "favelados" of urban sites which belong to landowners was to facilitate the solving of conflicts between these two groups. A study, based on observations and interviews carried out over a four-year period in a central favela of Belo Horizonte founded forty-five years ago, enables us better to understand the respective representations and attitudes that condition their relations. |
